This article is interesting, rather than talking about the inspiration that went into “American

Gothic” it talks about what went into the creation of this painting. The article brushes up on the

inspiration but goes into depth about who were the models and where the background was

and when they decided to paint it. This article will be useful for the article about the painting

and its impact.

Biel, Steven. American Gothic: A Life of America's Most Famous Painting. Norton, 2006.

American gothic is a painting that lives on to be famous painting that lives on in American

history museums. Although it did not have much meaning to it this book tries to reveal the

little meaning it had and why it was so famous to american culture. This will be useful when

writing my article on this painting for the purpose of trying to understand the meaning behind

it, if there is any.

This museum article is a short and sweet history on the Delaware Crossing. It gives a little bit

of background about the painting and it also explains the importance of this painting in

american history. This article will be useful when making a webpage on the the Delaware

crossing and its importance.

This article does a wonderful job at explaining why Norman rockwell decided to paint this famous painting in the end. It talks about how Theodore Roosevelt played a very important role in the creation of the American dream and how Norman Rockwell was inspired by the American dream that so many citizens thought of and decided to depict it in a painting. This article will be useful for a sub comment underneath the painting in my exhibit.

This is another descriptive article. It talks about why and where the HArlem Renaissance

began. This article also has some sub categories such as the Great Migration and Langston

Hughes as well as other topic that played a big role in the Harlem Renaissance. This will be

useful for my article on the Harlem Renaissance.

Huggins, Nathan Irvin. Voices from the Harlem Renaissance. Oxford University Press, 1994.

This book does a wonderful job at digging into the history of the harlem renaissance. Rather

than most storybook that focus on the voices of empowered white men, the book focuses on

the African American’s point of view during this time. This will be very useful when explaining

why the Harlem Renaissance was so important to the African American community.

Smillie, Ian. Freedom from Want: The Remarkable Success Story of BRAC, the Global Grassroots Organization That's Winning the Fight against Poverty. Kumarian Press, 2013.

In Ian Smillie’s book he talks about the famous third decision from Franklin D Roosevelt, the

“freedom from want”. Rather than going into depth about the painting this book goes into

depth how FDR’s decision to focus on this affected the people. This book will be useful when

talking about the background of this painting and its inspiration.
